Fascinating sectional view of an unattributed lead mine in the mineral rich southern highlands of Scotland. This area has been actively mining lead since the 16th century. Quite charming with a lengthy alphanumeric key denoting Names of Drifts, Shafts and Slopes & Names of Roustings with an additional paragraph of Observations. Manuscript additions dated 1808, 1810 and 1813.
Accompanied by an ink & wash color plan of a measured pump vault and foundation, signed and bearing a date of 1827, on a 26” x 17” sheet watermarked Whatman Turkey Mill 1822.
